PRP, Platelet Rich Plasma-platelet is the abbreviation of the treatment method called “Platelet Rich Plasma application”. This procedure is based on the small amount of blood taken from a person, putting it in a special tube and after centrifugation, separating it into its components and returning the small amount of “platelet-enriched plasma” (PRP) obtained to the same person by injection.
What is the Purpose of (PRP) Application?
In applications aimed at rejuvenating our skin, we imitate what our body does while healing a wound by various methods. For example, we give limited and mild damage to our skin with methods such as laser and peeling, and we use it as a triggering force to quickly heal this damage to our skin. After this damage, the growth factor is released, and the healing process begins. The structure that can repair skin damage in the most effective, fastest and most natural way is the platelets that contain growth factors in their structure, namely blood cells, which are called platelets. Therefore, plasma application has developed as a method that uses this magic power circulating in our veins (the density of platelets in the plasma obtained is 2 to 4 times higher than in blood). PRP applications in our clinic are carried out through application kits produced by the biotechnology company known as RegenLab. In aesthetic medicine, PRP is used in body parts such as face, neck, upper chest area, hands, inside of legs, arms
- To ensure that wrinkles are corrected in a way that reverses the results of years and UV exposure on the skin, removal of depressions, restoring flexibility and brightness,
- To control the conditions of wound, crack and skin quality that take a long time to heal,
- To use alone in hair loss or to strengthen the effect of other treatment options…
It is successfully applied in many areas apart from the above-mentioned purposes.
Is it a safe procedure to process the patient’s own blood and give it back to the patient?
PRP application is “autologous”, that is, the platelets used are those taken from the patient, and also procedures such as blood collection and separation of the platelets are performed with the help of a sterile and closed kit, that is, there is no risk of contamination from the outside. Apart from these, there is nothing added to the platelets given. For these reasons, this procedure can be considered reliable.
How is PRP applied in practice?
Two or three tubes (16-23 ml) of blood are taken from the person to be treated, and their platelets are separated in the centrifuge device. The separated platelets condense and accumulate inside the tube in the kit, resulting in a blood product called PRP. This product (PRP) is applied to the skin by means of filling or mesotherapy, and its skin rejuvenating effect becomes evident with a bright and vivid appearance immediately after application.
How long does this treatment take to apply? Is there a special requirement?
The session takes a total of approximately 30 minutes. It is easily and painlessly applied.
Since platelets circulate freely in our blood, why don’t they go to the aging tissue themselves and start this process?
In fact, platelets that reach tissues with blood circulation do this to a certain extent, but this triggering is not sufficient in an aging body in general. For this reason, the platelets are concentrated and turned into PRP and applied to targeted tissues, face, neck, hands and other areas.
Does PRP absolutely need to be injected?
PRP can be applied to the skin by mesotherapy or filler method or it can be applied with a mask, and it is also possible to mix and apply PRP into a special cream.
Is there a certain dose of PRP to be applied? How much is needed? How much is applied?
There is no problem of overdose. All of the obtained PRP can be used. In general, a total of 8 ml of PRP can be obtained with a mesotherapy kit. This is sufficient for the treatment of all areas such as the face, neck, upper chest area, outside the arms, and inside the legs.
When is the positive effect seen in PRP application?
A healthy brightness appears on the skin immediately after application. Later, this bright appearance regresses slightly, but after 3 or 4 applications (i.e. after 1 cycle), a lasting effect becomes apparent.
How many applications are required to achieve the full effect?
The full effect will appear in the form of a permanent glow, a recovery, after a total of 3 or 4 applications, that is, after a cycle is completed.
Do the positive results obtained with a cycle disappear completely afterwards?
It does not disappear, but it is necessary to repeat the 3 or 4 cycles every 10-12 months. The effect of the cycles in this case is equivalent to a permanent rejuvenating effect. In other words, a procedure consisting of 3 or 4 cycles to be performed every 15 days should be repeated annually on average.
What is the most important advantage of PRP application?
It is that the rejuvenating effect provided is not concentrated only on certain areas such as the effects obtained in filling and similar applications, but that it spreads to a larger part of the skin and is more permanent. The positive results provided by other methods continue for a certain period of time, but the positive results of the PRP belong entirely to the practitioner. It doesn’t disappear.
Are there any undesirable effects in this application?
The patient is given a material (PRP) made from their own blood. The procedure is simply starting and accelerating the wound healing process. It is unlikely to encounter an undesirable effect.
Does the PRP application cause pain?
Although PRP application is not very painful, applying local anesthetic lotions makes the application more comfortable for the patient and the physician.
Are there people who are ineligible for the implementation of PRP?
This application is not applied in patients with insufficient platelets or in cancer patients.
What should the expectations from the PRP application be?
PRP application for cosmetic purposes has superior features to meet many expectations. Because;
- It is long-acting.
- It revitalizes and reconstructs the skin in the most natural way.
- It is applied easily and safely.
- It supports not only new collagen formation, but all vital functions of the skin.
- It removes wrinkles and lines by “rejuvenating” rather than “filling” the skin.
The bright healthy appearance provided after the first application may regress slightly after a while; therefore, consecutive applications should be done, and this should ensure the accumulation of the rejuvenating effect. When procedures consisting of 3 or 4 cycles are repeated once every 10-12 months, a long-acting rejuvenating effect will be achieved that can be considered permanent.
